Granby Day Care Center Fined

The state Department of Public Health has fined a Granby day care center $800 for failing to adequately supervise children in its care and maintain its facility.

During a recent inspection at The Patchwork Schoolhouse, an inspector found inadequate staffing and three children unattended in a room, reports say.  The facility also lacked shock- absorbent equipment under a large playscape, exposed screws and rusty hooks.

In an April consent decree, the state DPH ordered that the day care center contract with a private consultant to hold on-site reviews for one year, starting within one month of the agreement.
