Three CT Nursing Homes Make 2012 ‘Honor Roll’

Three nursing homes in Connecticut have been named to the 2012 “Honor Roll” by U.S. News and World Report magazine—meaning they had perfect 5-star ratings from the federal government for four straight quarters.

The homes are: the Alzheimers Resource Center, Plantsville; Lourdes Health Care Center, Wilton; and Matulaitis Nursing Home, Putnam.

The three are among 39 nursing homes nationally to receive the ‘Honor Roll’ designation. The homes—selected from more than 15,500 facilities that U.S. News reviewed—received four straight quarters of top ratings from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in all three areas that CMS reviews: health inspections, nurse staffing, and quality of care.

While the rating system provides a snapshot of quality, nursing-home experts advise people to do further research before selecting a facility, including an on-site visit.
