The Connecticut Medical Examining Board has revoked the license of a Plainville physician, after suspending his license earlier this year for improper prescribing practices.

Dr. Richard Luzietti’s license was revoked Dec. 21, seven months after the board had summarily suspended his right to practice medicine in Connecticut. An investigation by the state Department of Public Health [DPH] found that Luzietti had written prescriptions for controlled substances, including oxycodone, alprazolam and oxycontin, for numerous individuals in 2009 without maintaining proper medical records.

Luzietti also prescribed controlled substances for himself, including painkillers and benzodiazepines, and “abused and/or utilized to excess cocaine,” a statement of charges prepared by DPH says.
